The Lord Lieutenant, Tim Stephenson, comes to the base to award the Oxford Food Bank the Queens Award for Voluntary Services. A fine acceptance speech from volunteer Malcolm Hope, wonderful cakes from Happy Cakes and best cucumber sandwiches from Deborah Lewis. A very special day for everyone.
Beet the Waste takes over the Curtis Industrial Estate between Tap Social and the Oxford Food Bank with food prepared by Sandra and Marie of Waste2Taste.
In 2018 we were awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. The MBE for volunteers.
This was a wonderful recognition of the hard work done by our 100+ volunteers who collect, sort and deliver tons of food every day.
We rely on the generosity of individuals and organisations to pay for the costs of our base, keeping our five vans on the road and paying our small team of employees. Please go to the ‘Support us’ page to make a donation so we can continue to reduce food waste and to nourish the community.
